What is happening at the Rozalin school?

This Saturday, the memorial concert for Rafal Potocki, From Bieszczady and Roztocze, let’s meet halfway, will take place in the moat by Lubomirski Castle in Rzeszow. We will of course be there, and we warmly invite you to join us.

We are heavily involved in organizing this event. We are preparing an exhibition where you will be able to see photographs, archival recordings, and films connected with Rafal Potocki, and there will also be a stand with our gadgets.

Rafal Potocki was a journalist at Polskie Radio Rzeszow for more than twenty years. He hosted programmes such as Ulica Kulturalna, Oko na Eko, and Radio Biwak. He was interested not only professionally but also personally in culture, ecology, literature, and travel. Above all, he valued meetings and conversations with people. He often went out into the field, showcasing enthusiasts, unusual personalities, interesting initiatives, and atmospheric festivals.

On 29 June, friends and listeners of the journalist, who passed away last year at the age of 47, will gather in Rzeszow. The event is organized by Fundacja Artystyczna Rozsypaniec, Stowarzyszenie Folkowisko, Fundacja Q, and Polskie Radio Rzeszow.

The organizers say: “Earlier he used to come to us, now we will come to him.” The all-day event programme includes concerts by Kuba Blokesz, Sviatyj, Zmije, and Joryj Kloc, as well as a Molkky tournament, a handicraft fair, DKMS marrow donor registration, activities for children, and the creation of a deskal portrait of Rafal by Arkadiusz Andrejkow. The portable deskal will later also appear at Folkowisko in July and at Rozsypaniec in August.

From noon onward there will also be an artistic handicraft market with Bieszczady artists, ceramics, painted wooden angels, kryvulkas, rag toys, and regional food from Roztocze and the Sandomierz Forest.

At 14:00, visitors will be able to learn to play Molkky, the Finnish outdoor game that Rafal promoted last year shortly before his death. At the same time there will be a meeting with the poet Adam Ziemianin, who is coming from Krakow specially for the event.

A special tent will screen films about Bieszczady and Roztocze, as well as music videos in which Rafal appeared. A photography exhibition will also be presented, showing the journalist at work in the field as well as in everyday moments, including among his beloved bees.

At 17:00 the concerts begin. The artists appearing on stage are:

• Sviatyj - a mysterious artist whose lyrics and music are filled with the East, in a style he describes as Galician Voodoo Blues.
• Kuba Blokesz - a bard, poet, and outstanding singer who collects songs, searches for words and music that make a difference, and writes, composes, translates, sings, and plays guitar.
• Zmije - a band drawing on the spirit of Bieszczady and the wildness of Roztocze, one of the best-known folk groups from Rzeszow.
• Joryj Kloc - an energetic band from Lviv combining Polish and Ukrainian traditional music with contemporary rock sounds.

The event is funded by the budget of the City of Rzeszow. It is supported by Polskie Radio Rzeszow and covered by partners including TVP3 Rzeszow, Nowiny, Nowiny24, and Kurier Rzeszowski.
