Active seniors at Fundacja Q — kayaks, bonfires, Christmas Eve gatherings and digital skills

Working with seniors is one of the threads that keeps returning in our projects over the years — from sessions at the New Technologies Laboratory to integration meetings at the Citizen Assistance Centre in Tarnowska Wola. In this piece we gather in one place what we do together with senior women and men from the region.

Digital skills — Senior Digital Academy

Through the New Technologies Laboratory we run the Senior Digital Academy — first steps online, setting up email, online banking, sharing photos with family, and basics of staying safe on the net. We work in a small group, at participants’ own pace, in cooperation with volunteer educators from the Digital Poland programme (Latarnicy Polski Cyfrowej).

Kayak trips

Joint outings on the water are one of our favourite ways to come together. We will add details on routes, seasons and participant numbers soon; photos from recent trips will appear here too.

Integration bonfires

Informal gatherings around the fire — often combined with paddling, workshops or neighbourhood celebrations — help build relationships between seniors, families with children and people from Ukraine living in our region. We will add descriptions of specific events and photo coverage soon.

Shared Christmas Eve gatherings

Each year we hold holiday meetings for seniors — a Christmas Eve supper, regional traditions, conversation. We will add descriptions and photos from individual editions once we have gathered the materials.

Why we do this

For seniors, presence, relationships and practical skills (from digital to health-related) make a real difference to everyday life. By combining outdoor activity with learning new things and intergenerational meetings, we try to create a space where it simply feels good to be together.
