Museum of Stories at Cieszanow Rock Festival 2019

Next Thursday the Cieszanow Rock Festival begins, and of course we will be there.

Below is an overview of the activities that will run throughout the weekend in the City NGO zone during Cieszanuje #10latcrf. There will definitely be something for everyone.

Thursday, 15 August

Highlights include:

• the Comic Mural for the Tenth Anniversary activity, where festival-goers can help create a comic-style mural,
• the Museum of Stories zone with exhibitions, workshops, recruitment activities, a photo workshop by Robert Wilk, a COP and Dezamet story stand, the Deer in the Rut exhibition, a museum souvenir shop, retro games, and a multimedia exhibition of CRF memories,
• the Art & Science zone run by Fundacja Sztuka Nauki, including candy-making workshops and a visible DNA extraction experiment,
• historical court-trial simulations from antiquity to the present,
• a tourist information office with maps, films, bike rental, and regional souvenirs,
• student volunteering activities from PROJEKTOR,
• a protected animal rehabilitation centre,
• Granary Full of Memories, a Museum of Stories project featuring multimedia CRF memories, games from the past, and festival keepsakes,
• a book-sharing action,
• Tygodnik Powszechny activities,
• an independent cassette, record, and zine exchange,
• meditative mornings with Nepalese bowls,
• a coworking space at the festival,
• the second boule championship,
• workshops on renewable energy,
• organised tours of the surrounding area,
• a festival radio studio,
• nature and cyanotype photography exhibitions,
• children’s workshops by No Bell school,
• responsible-consumption activities,
• a festival challenge to encourage people to explore activity zones beyond the concert area,
• talks about Adam Slodowy and Polish DIY culture,
• a bee-awareness action,
• meetings with bands,
• an eco avenue of stars where artists plant trees,
• linocut workshops,
• and the Cieszanow and You activity zone.

Friday, 16 August

Friday’s programme includes, among others:

• a dawn kayaking trip on the Tanew river,
• the second day of historical court simulations, focused on discrimination, prejudice, hate speech, and crowd psychology,
• reading sessions and meetings by Tygodnik Powszechny,
• a meeting on the Bialystok 1980s alternative scene,
• a late-night Projekt Pudlo concert,
• a night concert by Sviatyj,
• kettlebell training workshops,
• circus-inspired development workshops,
• Photon robot programming activities for children,
• the Open Minds discussion cycle,
• and the continuation of the standing City NGO programme.

Saturday, 17 August

Saturday brings:

• the third day of court simulations, with opportunities to speak to project participants and representatives of public institutions,
• Tygodnik Powszechny breakfast and talks,
• a meeting titled Not Only Chernobyl,
• the SPokoj on the Street wellbeing tent,
• a discussion on Tom Waits and David Bowie with Tomasz Rabsztyn,
• dumpling-making workshops by Szybko Pysznie Domowo,
• giant speed-chess games,
• another Open Minds block,
• plus the continuation of all-day activities from earlier festival days.

Sunday, 18 August

Sunday includes:

• a one-day trip to Lviv,
• another dawn kayaking trip,
• the mural and Museum of Stories activities,
• tourist information and organised tours,
• the student volunteering zone,
• the animal rehabilitation centre,
• book-sharing and media activities,
• wellbeing mornings,
• coworking, boule, renewable-energy workshops, and creative activities,
• and the closing run of many City NGO projects.
