WARKOT #25 | The beginning of 2023!
Less than a month has passed since we entered 2023, and already a huge amount is happening in our foundation’s daily work. Importantly, it is a lot of good work, which is our natural response to difficult and sometimes deeply saddening situations.
We have prepared a short summary of the first weeks of the year and our activities.
Foodsharing
We started the first week of the year by launching something we had already been mentioning during our #teamQ meetings: a jadlodzielnia, a place for free food sharing. Our Krakow branch of Fundacja Q works like a well-oiled machine, so already on 2 January we began cooperating with Foodsharing Krakow. That is how a fridge appeared in our office, and in the coming months it will serve as the food-sharing point we had planned.
We know that the holiday season is a time when enormous amounts of food are wasted, so we encourage you to support the point and donate food for people who may currently need this kind of help.

Collections
It might seem that almost a year after the outbreak of the armed conflict in Ukraine, support needs are becoming smaller, but unfortunately that is not true. The topic of the war may have become familiar, but the needs remain. In response to requests from the Ukrainian community in Manevychi, in Volyn Oblast, we are organizing a collection of the most necessary items to make everyday life easier.

Blankets
Winter is also a time when more and more people decide to cross the border, which means aid centres face growing needs. We joined a blanket collection for people arriving at the Humanitarian Centre in Tesco in Przemysl. In this campaign, speed and immediate reaction matter most, so we are counting strongly on your kind hearts and quick action.

Bezpieczna Przestrzen 2.0
Safe Space was one of our first activities last year, aimed at supporting mental health for both people in a refugee crisis and volunteers. Thanks to cooperation with WHO Regional Office for Europe, we can continue this initiative.
Our network of specialists still needs people who can offer free support. We encourage psychologists, psychotherapists, and therapists to join and strengthen Safe Space 2.0.

Ukraina IT needs
As part of the Ukraina IT needs initiative, we were able to donate more laptops that will support the education and development of children and teenagers. The equipment was handed over to Sister Ludwika from the Congregation of the Pallottine Sisters. The Pallottine Sisters work, among other places, in Ukraine, Rwanda, Congo, and Cameroon.
The initiative is possible thanks to support from Global Business Coalition for Education, Theirworld, and HP.
Bajkowy Krakow
On Monday, 9 January, Brian Liliie visited our Krakow office together with Poland Welcomes Fundacja Unitatem. During the workshop, children and parents made bookmarks together. Participants also received beautiful free books from donors. These gifted books will soon fill the shelves of mini libraries in all Fundacja Q branches.
Rozmowka
Fundacja Q also continues its free Polish-language courses. Classes are held once a week. To sign up, please visit the foundation in person at Nowa Deba, ul. Jana Pawla II 4.
More detailed information can be found on our Facebook page: KLIK. The courses are aimed mainly at people who have never learned Polish before and are focused above all on spoken language.
Team Q training
Already in the first weeks of 2023, our Fundacja Q team managed to take part in two trainings: Important habits in stressful situations from WHO and PSEA (Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) from IOM Poland.
Our organization attaches great importance to training that not only develops our skills but also touches on important areas of social and professional life. As partners of international organizations, we want to create and maintain a safe environment for all our employees and for the people we support.
Infolinia Q
Infolinia Q - Help for Ukraine / Інфолінія Q - допомога Україні is one of our main current projects.
The initiative is intended for refugees who need information about the help they can receive from the International Organization for Migration. The phone line operates in three languages: Polish, Ukrainian, and English. The project is implemented by Fundacja Q in cooperation with IOM Poland. Fundacja Q also provides information about activities run by its branches in Rzeszow, Krakow, Katowice, and Nowa Deba.
Centre for Civic Support
The Eugeniusz Kwiatkowski Centre for Civic Support is our next location being created in Tarnowska Wola. Our upcoming plans are truly exciting and, despite the scale of the work ahead, we are happy that another important project will soon come to life. The centre will be a place of support where, among other things, Infolinia Q - Help for Ukraine / Інфолінія Q - допомога Україні will also operate, co-created with IOM Poland.
And… a short summary
Almost two weeks have passed, and as you can see, there is a great deal going on. We keep developing so that our support becomes more and more professional and better adapted to the needs of every person in a difficult situation.
