Akcja Recykling Wspiera

Akcja Recykling Wspiera is a campaign in which we combine care for the environment with real help for people in the local community. We organise e-waste collections that send used electrical and electronic equipment to recycling, and the funds raised through the campaign are directed to a specific support goal.

The 2nd edition of Akcja Recykling Wspiera took place from 6 to 9 March 2023 in the Nowa Deba municipality. Its aim was not only to collect e-waste and promote responsible waste handling, but also to support a person from the local community. In this edition, the funds raised were donated to support Wiktoria Szpyt.

During the collection, residents could hand in monitors, TVs, large household appliances (washing machines, dishwashers, dryers, cookers, ovens, fridges, freezers), small appliances, computers, servers, laptops, tablets, and phones. Items not accepted included batteries, Li-Ion accumulators, toner cartridges, fluorescent tubes, and halogen bulbs. Collection points operated across Nowa Deba and nearby areas, including PSZOK at Leśna 1 in Nowa Deba, OSP Cygany, the Primary School in Tarnowska Wola, the Civic Assistance Centre, Rozalin, Kominex in Majdan Królewski, and School Complexes No. 1 and No. 2 in Nowa Deba.

The campaign delivered measurable results: 6 transport runs completed, 9,714 kg of e-waste collected, and PLN 5,040.77 donated to support Wiktoria’s treatment and rehabilitation. It also showed how much need there is for local actions that simultaneously clean up shared spaces, reduce the risk of dumping waste in forests and unauthorised sites, and build social solidarity.

The project was born from the conviction that e-waste should go only to proper collection and recycling points. More and more old, unused devices sit in homes, basements, and attics — and some still end up in places where they pose an environmental hazard. Through Akcja Recykling Wspiera we show that responsible e-waste disposal can have a double value: environmental and social.

Residents, volunteers, schools, institutions, media partners, and local businesses all took part. Partners of the 2nd edition included the Municipality of Nowa Deba, Tomar – Stolarka Okienna i Drzwiowa, Infonowadeba.pl, Gość Niedzielny, the Centrum Obywatelskiej Pomocy im. E. Kwiatkowskiego, Radio Leliwa, Kominex Majdan Królewski, Schola Anielskie Grajki, PGKiM Nowa Deba, przetwarzaj.pl, and Bezmiar Możliwości. Local schools, the parish, OSP, the hospital, the Rural Housewives’ Circle, and residents of the city and municipality of Nowa Deba also actively joined the campaign.

Akcja Recykling Wspiera is part of the Foundation’s broader approach to combining environmental education, community activity, and support for those in need. Alongside the e-waste campaign we also run other initiatives focused on collecting recyclables and building everyday habits of responsibility for our surroundings. We believe local initiatives have the greatest power when they bring people together around simple, concrete, and needed actions.
