Safe Haven
A psychological support platform for volunteers helping refugees from Ukraine - without intermediaries, queues and answering machines.
We have created an online platform connecting psychologists with volunteers in need of psychological support. People working pro publico bono are on the front line of the fight against the difficult situation on our eastern border and are very exposed to various types of trauma. That’s why we offer free online help from our excellent psychologists and psychotherapists.
For volunteers working for Ukraine
A stationary psychological support point already operates, among others, next to the logistics center in the former Tesco building in Przemyśl and offers all possible help for refugees and volunteers. Now we are starting a virtual help center: Safe Space.
No intermediaries, no answering machines and no standing in queues - only via e-mail, people in need of psychological support can make an appointment with a therapist.
Why Safe Space was created
After the first wave of help for refugees, we see problems that will prevent volunteers from working effectively in the long run. The first audits by psychologists in the field have shown that people interacting with refugees fleeing from war-torn Ukraine are already experiencing emotions bordering on war trauma and capable of causing post-traumatic stress disorder.
Safe Space is a component of the project “Power bank to help”, which is intended to provide electricity and heat for refugees at the border and psychological support for volunteers at border crossings. We are implementing it with the support of organizations operating within the National Freedom Institute and the Solidarity Corps.
