We saw for ourselves in the spring of 2020 how important technological advances are in this day and age. The outside world fell silent and we relied on contact, work and, above all, education only through our electronic devices. Today, in the Ukrainian territories, it is not the pandemic that is the biggest problem on the way to education, but the warfare, which in a large part of the places makes stationary learning impossible.
As a foundation, we have been trying to act on the issue of support, not only financially but also psychologically, since the war in Ukraine began. Our educational initiatives to date have mainly been aimed at adults, such as Polish language or computer classes, but we hope that through further cooperation with international
organisations we will be able to support the education of children and young people in Ukraine in the coming months.
Our efforts are the result of collaboration with the Global Business Coalition for Education, Theirworld and HP Inc. so that at the end of September 1,400 laptops arrived at our headquarters in Nowa Dęba,
which will be distributed accordingly. The bulk of the equipment (900 laptops) was transported to Ukrainian foundations: Chatitable Foundation of Driya Sayed in Kiev (Kiev region) and the Polish Cultural Society of Wladyslaw Jagiello in Grodek Jagiellonskiy (Lviv region), as well as the Rural Municipality of Chortkiv (Ternopil region). From there, they were distributed
to children and young people, as well as to schools where education still takes place through remote classes.
The remaining laptops will serve their purpose in Poland – we have set up a free lending library in our offices for people in need who, for various reasons, do not have access to computers. We have made sure that this equipment can also serve refugees, who will thus be able to benefit from online training, as well as facilitating job searches and dealing with official matters.
Our Eko Tech Lab team made sure that the laptops were properly prepared for use, including installing operating systems. We are therefore starting the next stage of redistribution and further aid activities, which we hope will facilitate the education of children and young people in Ukrainian areas
